The official X account of Tesla AI, a subsidiary of the electric vehicle manufacturer, posted a release roadmap on Thursday that outlines upcoming releases of its Full Self-Driving technology.
The announcement signals that the company is well on its way to obtaining a license from authorities in these regions for technology , which it sees as a way to boost sales and stay ahead of Chinese competitors who are also working on similar driver assistance systems.
Tesla has made great strides in gaining approval for the China market, after passing data security assessments and reaching a mapping and navigation deal with tech giant Baidu Inc. Tesla also got approval to test its Full Self-Driving technology on the streets of Shanghai, Bloomberg reported in June.

But FSD has come under increased scrutiny in the U.S., even as CEO Elon Musk is banking on Tesla's being autonomous. Despite the technology's name, Tesla and industry experts say drivers should keep their hands on the wheel and pay attention to the road while using the software.

Musk said in an earnings presentation in July that he expects Tesla's Full Self-Driving system to be approved in Europe, China and other countries by the end of the year. He also wrote in X in April that a launch in China "may be possible very soon."
If the FSD is approved, it could help the EV maker stay ahead in China — its biggest overseas market, where dozens of brands are eroding Tesla’s market share and developing their own advanced driver-assist technology. Tesla’s shipments in China in the first eight months of this year fell about 6% compared with last year, according to data from the China Passenger Automobile Association.

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) represents a major advancement in automotive technology, aiming to enable vehicles to navigate without human intervention. This technology relies on a combination of artificial intelligence, sensors, cameras and advanced algorithms to interpret the driving environment, make decisions and execute maneuvers. With features such as automatic lane changes, traffic light recognition and real-time route planning, FSD strives to improve safety and comfort for both drivers and passengers.
