The highly anticipated city-building game Cities Skylines 2launched on PC via Steam in October and immediately addressed several issues that developer Colossal Order has struggled to address in recent months. In November, Colossal Order confirmed a series of delays to its planned DLC in order to focus on much-needed performance improvements and the already delayed Mod Editor. The console version would not be released until the issues with the PC version were resolved, the developer claimed .
In a new post on Steam, executive director Mariina Hallikainen was asked: “How do you plan to get out of this mess? / What are you planning to fix Cities: Skylines 2? / What will you do to fix the disastrous CS2 launch?” In her response, she admitted that the lack of modding support is Colossal Order’s “biggest mistake,” but addressed all the main concerns.

“We would much rather be in a different place than we are right now, but we can’t change the past,” Hallikainen said of Cities: Skylines 2. “We are putting a lot of effort into making up for the lack of modding support, operating systems, Ultimate Edition content, and improving performance and fixing bugs this year. The team is split up to work on different tasks, so we are seeing progress on all fronts, and while it may not seem fast enough, I can assure you that we are doing our best. Only time will tell if that is enough to turn things around.”

In response, Hallikainen answered a list of questions, confirming that more animations are coming to Cities: Skylines 2, work on bikes and bike lanes is underway, and more buildings both free and paid are on the roadmap.
