Ukrainian authorities have arrested a 31-year-old hacker for his involvement in stealing and selling bank accounts of American and Canadian users on the dark web .

The suspect distributed trojanized software for free (for desktop and mobile OS) using various websites he managed. He also promoted these websites through advertising campaigns.

The malicious payloads infected victims' devices and stole sensitive data, which the hacker used to compromise the victim's Google accounts and online banking accounts.

The hacker then sold access to the compromised bank accounts to other cybercriminals via the dark web.
Authorities in Ukraine say the suspect had accompliceswho maintained darknet accounts. Their identities are currently unknown, but authorities are searching for them.
The press release from the police also states that the hacker has been active since 2017 and turned to phishing in 2021. At present, it is estimated that the 31-year-old has managed to obtain at least $92,000 from these activities, but his earnings may be much more.
