There is heated debate in the Tesla community about whether it is fair to call these issues “recalls,” since the term usually refers to the need to physically recall a vehicle back to the manufacturer or service center to fix a problem. In Tesla’s case, it is usually fixed with an over-the-air software update.
The media often focuses on the fact that Tesla is “recalling” a large number of vehicles, without emphasizing that the recall has already been completed via a software update, before they or the owners even know about it.
Today you may have seen headlines that Tesla has recalled over 54,000 Model X vehicles due to a “brake fluid issue.” A new notice from the NHTSA has been released regarding an issue involving the inability to detect low brake fluid.
“Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Model X vehicles. The vehicle controller may fail to detect low brake fluid and will not display a warning light. As a result, these vehicles do not comply with the requirements of Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135, “Light Vehicle Brake Systems“.

54,676 Model X vehicles manufactured from 2021 to 2023 are affected. In the announcement, NHTSA also states that Tesla has already implemented an over-the-air software update to fix the problem.
According to documents filed by Tesla, the automaker became aware of the problem in new production vehicles in September and the brake manufacturing team identified its origin.
It's pretty good news for brake fluid reliability, although the prediction wasn't reported by any customer despite its presence in cars for two years.
