The first images of the Google Pixel Watch 2 have leaked, which you won't find on the original Pixel Watch.
The Pixel Watch 2 is rumored to launch later this year, with a faster chip and improved wellness features. And according to reliable leaker Kamila Wojciechowska at Android Authority, the company is planning a whole line of exclusive watches for the new smartwatch.
The watch faces, which come from an "anonymous source within Google," will be available in four styles: Accessible, Arc, Bold Digital, and Analog Bold.
As the name suggests, Accessible is minimalist and easy to use, without many distracting design elements. Expect a simple digital clock over a single, circular slot of complications, although the arrangement of the numbers may vary.
At the other end of the spectrum is Arc — a “highly customizable watch face intended for users who demand more functionality from their watch.” With it, you can add up to four functions, as well as additional information and the option to toggle a second hand. The design will be a bit different for some people’s tastes, but it’s definitely a good choice.
Bold Digital and Analog Bold are two sides of the same coin, offering the same curved, overlapping numbers — just in digital form. You can have up to three complications if you choose the former, while the latter gives you room for more.
According to Wojciechowska, each watch face comes with a variety of colors, and the Pixel Watch 2 will come with Wear OS 4, where colors from the theme you choose spill over into other parts of the UI, including the startup animation.
Bad news for original Pixel Watch owners
All of this sounds great, especially when there are so many options. But there is one downside: “Right now, it looks like they will remain exclusive to the second-generation watch,” Wojciechowska writes.
Assuming he is right and Google hasn't changed its mind, I can think of two possible reasons for the aforementioned incident.

The first is that these new faces can be a big drain on the battery of the first-generation Pixel Watch. Given how the original struggled to get through a full day on a single charge, if these new faces have complicated animations or too many complications, Google decided it was best not to tempt existing users into further reducing their battery life.
The second is simply the appeal of exclusivity. If the new watch has features that can't be found on the original, then perhaps more people will be tempted to upgrade.
The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to launch next fall alongside the Pixel 8. In the past, non-A-series Pixel events have been held in October, so there are only a few months left.
