Galaxy Note 20: New February 2023 security update

Samsung has released the new February 2023 firmware security update for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

This February 2023, Samsung kicked off its first in-person Galaxy Unpacked event in three years. The new S23 series comes with a chip and an unprecedented 200MP main camera that is sure to make it one of the must-have Android phones of this year. Despite such a major launch, Samsung managed to stay on top by promptly releasing the latest security patch for the Note 20 series .

Samsung is currently rolling out a new firmware security update for the Galaxy Note 20 and the Ultra in Switzerland, giving it a security update from February 2023. Although Samsung has not made any official statement about the type of fixes this update will contain, we are positive that dozens of vulnerabilities and gaps have been fixed with N986BXXS5GWB1. It is a matter of days before the same patch reaches all the rest of Europe to give users the maximum possible protection on their favorite devices!

Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users in Switzerland can update their device by going to Settings » Software update , tapping Download and install .

During the Galaxy S23 launch , Samsung assured that One UI 5.1 could soon be available for other devices in its lineup - this could potentially force it to postpone the release of the February 2023 update for its current flagships. When customers start receiving their S23 phones, it's likely that they will also have access to One UI 5.1 along with the February 2023 patch that will also be available on eligible models!

In mid-2020, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 20 series with Android 10 pre-installed . Following this launch, the phones were upgraded to include Android 11 in early 2021 and Android 12 in late 2021; they later received a new layer of protection through an upgrade to the latest available version of Google 's mobile operating system – Android 13 – in late 2022. Although the models will not receive additional operating system updates from this point on, they will still receive security patches for the next few years.
