It appears that Apple has shifted its focus to its AR/VR headset, resulting in the current version of iOS 17 seeing a notable reduction in upgrades.

Not only iOS 17, but also its sister operating system macOS 14 will see a reduction in the size of modifications. It is no secret that both Android and iOS are so advanced now that it has become quite difficult to make substantial changes annually. In particular, there have been limited updates compared to Android for several years - however, iOS 14 and 16 brought significant changes. Therefore, 2023 could serve as an opportunity for small changes or perhaps be a year dedicated solely to eliminating bugs!

Apple has been rumored to be working on an AR/VR headset for some time now, and multiple reports have mentioned it. It seems like the product is set to launch this year – slightly delayed from the original Q2 2023 forecast. We could see it unveiled in June at WWDC, or it could be released between August and September alongside the iPhone!

Despite its astronomical $2 trillion market cap, Apple seems to be having a hard time prioritizing its resources and focusing on developing multiple products at once. In particular, its decision to allocate fewer resources to iOS in order to work on xrOS (its AR/VR operating system) seems a bit out of the ordinary.
This year, Apple's AR/VR technology will be a major factor in its success, as long as it sticks to its schedule.
