WhatsApp has finally begun rolling out its new Communities feature globally, after months of testing. The feature allows users to connect multiple groups under one umbrella to help them better organize group conversations on the platform. In addition to Communities, WhatsApp is also rolling out a few other features with its latest update, including support for in-chat polls, 32-person video calls, and groups with up to 1,024 members.

In a video recently released on Facebook, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new WhatsApp Communities feature. The feature allows admins to more easily manage conversations by organizing them in one location under a brand new tab.
The tab will be at the top of your conversations if you have Android, and will appear at the bottom on iOS. This tab provides options that allow admins to start new Communities or add existing groups to a Community. Within these Communities, users have the ability to seamlessly switch between groups. Admins also gain the ability to share critical updates with all group members at once.

In addition to the latest update, Zuckerberg confirmed that a few other features that are in development will also be available to users. WhatsApp's latest update brings support for video calls with up to 32 participants - something Zuckerberg first mentioned when Call Links debuted earlier this year. Support for 1,024-member groups, which was recently spotted, will be released with the latest update, along with the ability to create polls within a conversation.

Just a few days ago, WhatsApp rolled out new features, including Avatar support in the beta channel. This allows users to have custom avatars as their profile pictures.
