Electronic Arts (EA), a global leader in interactive entertainment, has partnered with Middle-earth Enterprises, a division of The Saul Zaentz Company, to develop a new free-to-play mobile game. The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is a collectible role-playing game (RPG) that brings the fantasy and adventure of The Lord of the Rings to existing fans and new audiences in a strategic, socially competitive experience.
The publisher has been tight-lipped about details so far and hasn't released any images or gameplay beyond this artwork:
The Lord of the Rings game is being developed in collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises, as the image suggests, and will be “exclusively inspired by Middle-earth as described in the literary works of JRR Tolkien” according to Middle-earth Enterprises chief brand and licensing officer, Fredrica Drotos.

Heroes of Middle-earth will apparently feature "immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems, and a broad roster of characters" from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The game will feature battles across various well-known stories from Tolkien's works.
EA hasn't mentioned when the game will be released to the public, but if you want the Lord of the Rings content as soon as possible, Amazon The Rings of Power will be released in September.
The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is expected to enter limited regional beta testing this summer.
