It's been over a decade since the release of James Cameron's epic science fiction film Avatar . We knew there would be sequels, but it's been 13 years since we've gotten any closer to a new Avatar movie. The first teaser trailer for Avatar 2, titled Avatar: The Way of Water , has been released , and it's been playing alongside Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for the past few days , but it 's now available for everyone to enjoy on YouTube.

The new film brings back the main characters, played by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, while the cast also includes “old” Giovanni Ribisi and Sigourney Weaver. Along with them, we will also have new characters.
Avatar 2 picks up where the first film left off, with Jake and Neytiri raising their family on the planet Pandora. However, the trailer shows the heroes once again being called upon to defend their growing civilization and face new threats.

In addition to a Na'vi child, the trailer also includes footage of Jake and Neytiri caring for a child who looks more like a human who must wear a special mask to survive on the planet.
The film has an official description for the plot of Avatar 2, or Avatar: The Way of Water, which doesn't give many details: "Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the family (Jake, Neytiri, and children ), the troubles that follow them, the efforts they make to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure."

Avatar: The Way of Water stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, and CCH Pounder, reprising their roles from the original 2009 film. Sigourney Weaver will also return, but as a different character. Finally, as mentioned above, many other actors will also appear, such as Kate Winslet, Jemaine Clement, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Vin Diesel, Oona Champlin. The film will premiere on December 16, 2022.
