Lord of the Rings fans tuned into Super Bowl 2022 just to watch the trailer for Amazon's new dramatic and adventurous series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but they weren't disappointed.
Later this year, Amazon Prime will release a new prequel, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which is arguably the most expensive TV show of all time. The series will focus on the Second Age of Middle-earth by JRR Tolkien and will reveal how the powerful rings of the universe were created, as well as how they were distributed among the tribes of Middle-earth. The first season, which reportedly cost around $450 million (the combined budget for Peter Jackson's three films was $281 million), wrapped production on August 2.
While Amazon previously released a teaser trailer in January that revealed the new series' title, the new trailer offers a first look at the return of J.R.R. Tolkien after Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy. Despite all the trailers that have been released for the show, little is known about the plot, but Amazon has released the first images of the upcoming show, revealing exclusive photos in a special feature in Vanity Fair.

The new show will run for eight episodes when it premieres in September. After it was reported that the trailer would be released during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 13, fans made it clear that this was the only reason they were tuning in on social media, calling the debut "incredible," "amazing," and "wonderful.".

Production on the new Amazon Studio series began in New Zealand last year, but is said to have wrapped filming in December. The series is expected to run for five seasons and will star Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Joseph Mawle, Lenny Henry, Peter Mullan, and Saint Maud star Morfydd Clark.
When the first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released, many fans wondered if elements of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion had been added. This was due to the inclusion of the Trees of Valinor. In Tolkien's books, the light from these trees is trapped in three jewels, called Silmarils. However, its title seems to suggest that the show will actually focus on the mythical Second Age and the history of Middle-earth, as it is set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings films and novels.

The announcement of the epic prequel series sparked a wave of excitement on social media from its fans, resulting in them demanding even more footage from the show to satisfy their curiosity as they anxiously await it.
