During a protest in Portland, Donald Trump agents pepper-sprayed a Vietnam War veteran this weekend.
"I took an oath to serve this government, and my government committed inhumane acts in Vietnam. I took the same oath that every one of you has taken," the veteran says.
The man attacked by Trump administration agents appears to have been identified as Mike Hastie, and is believed to have been a Vietnam War veteran.
In the video , Hastie recounts his experiences as a war medicwhile standing in front of a line of agents. A few minutes later, one of them is seen spraying him in the face. During a discussion about 's inhumane actions government, other officers can be heard approaching him.
"I carried a high-powered automatic weapon in Vietnam, and we were killing people. We did it every day and your generation doesn't know that."
This was also the moment an officer interrupted Vietnam veteran Hastie, and before he could finish his next sentence, Trump agents pepper-sprayed him directly in the face. Hastie then began to walk away and toward officers walking down the street, while continuing to talk about the people they killed.
The video, shot by video producer Andrew Kimmel , has garnered over 4.1 million views on Twitter alone since it was uploaded . The video, which shows the moment federal officers pepper-spray the veteran, also went viral on Reddit , receiving more than 47,000 upvotes in a single post .
This incident is just one of countless shocking moments seen on the streets of Portland as part of the ongoing protests that erupted after the police killing of George Floyd in late May
Police agents were sent to the city by President Donald Trump earlier this month, but despite the incidents and "wild scenes," this is the first time we've seen a pepper spray attack recorded and a war veteran treated in such a bad way.
