Microsoft: Released the June 2020 updates for Office!

Microsoft has released the June 2020 non-security updates for Microsoft Office, with performance improvements and fixes for issues affecting Windows Installer (MSI) versions of Office 2016, Office 2013, and Office 2010. Update KB4484398 fixes issues with Outlook 2016 crashing and shared folders disappearing from Favorites when Outlook starts in offline mode. Update KB4484392 also fixes a bug that affects Excel 2016 and PowerPoint 2016 in some very specific scenarios.

Microsoft also fixed errors caused by importing data from Microsoft Office applications, using Power BI and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) to load data from Office applications into SQL Server in KB4484394. Six of the June 2020 security updates for Office apply to the entire Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Office 2013, and Microsoft Office 2010 software suites, while two other updates fix issues affecting OneNote 2016 and Outlook 2016.

Microsoft: Released the June 2020 updates for Office!

The June 2020 updates released by Microsoft yesterday can be installed manually from the Download Center or by using the Microsoft Update service for automatic installation. These updates for Microsoft Office apply only to Office products that are based on Microsoft Installer (.msi), and do not apply to Office subscription or Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home.

It's worth noting that you may also be prompted to restart device after applying some of these updates released for Microsoft Office. If your Office installation starts to misbehave after the update, you can uninstall the problematic update by following these steps:

  • Go to “Start”, type “View Installed Updates” in the “Search Windows” box and press “Enter”.
  • In the list of updates, locate and select the problematic update, then select “Uninstall.”.

Depending on the Office update you have installed, you may also need to apply other updates to fully resolve the issue on your Windows computer. For example, update KB4484356 requires Microsoft Office 2013 Service Pack 1 to be installed.
