Microsoft is offering a $100,000 bounty to anyone who can hack Azure Sphere OS. For those who don't know what it is, Azure Sphere OS is a Linux- based operating system from Microsoft .
The company developed the operating system last year to support its “Internet of Things” platform. The program , called the “Azure Sphere Security Research Challenge,” will run for three months. However, anyone who wants to participate must sign up for the program by May 15.
According to Microsoft, participants will need to be able to run some code on the Pluton Security Sybsystem or the Secure World Sandbox in order to get this money. More specifically, the company stated that participants will be rewarded if:
- They manage to run code on Pluton, which is Microsoft's security program for IoT devices.
- They manage to run code on Secure World, which is part of the ARM Cortrx-A sybsystem.
The company announced that the purpose of the program is to show how secure the Azure Sphere OS is. In addition to this, the company said that it will offer participants all of the following:
- Azure Sphere development kit (DevKit)
- Access to the company's products for research purposes.
- Azure Sphere documentation
- Communication channels with Microsoft Team.
