As a NetMarketShare survey showed, several Windows 10 users have decided to switch to macOS and Linux .
Microsoft 's Windows 10 has been the most popular operating system by a wide margin since its launch in 2015. It recently reached 1 billion active devices , a milestone it has been aiming for for the past two years.
However, it seems that the success of Windows 10 has begun to wane, as according to data, Microsoft's operating system recorded a 2% decrease between March and April 2020.
During the same period, Apple 's macOS operating system saw a 0.8% increase in market share. However, what was surprising was the market share of Linux distributions, which grew by 1.5%, almost double that of macOS.
Furthermore, if we compare the data from April 2019 (Windows share: 88.22%) and April 2020 (Windows share: 86.92%), there is a decrease of 1.3% in the last year.
Of course, Windows 10 still has the largest market share and runs on most computers worldwide.
However, it should be noted that the NetMarketShare does not represent all computers.
His conclusion, however, can be supported by a study by StatCounter, which shows that there is indeed a trend towards Linux and macOS operating systems, since between March and April 2020, Windows saw a decrease in its market share, while the numbers increased for macOS. However, Linux also saw a decrease according to StatCounter.

But why is Windows losing its users?
Fluctuations in market share statistics are not unexpected, but there are a few reasons that may have contributed to this decline in Windows 10's popularity.
Initially, one reason may be the end of support for Windows 7, since many users may have preferred some other alternative to Windows 10.
Another reason is likely to be Windows 10 updates, which contain several bugs, resulting in them often creating more problems than they solve.
Microsoft hopes that Windows 10 2004 will be able to bring the desired results and attract users, so that it does not experience a further decrease in the number of its users.
