Foodmandu, one of the largest food delivery platforms in Nepal, was hacked last night. A Twitter account operated by a user named Mr.Muggerrevealed that 50,000 data related to Foodmandu users had been breached. A link related to this data has also been revealed. The disclosure specifically includes the names, addresses, emails and phone numbers of the logged in users.
Foodmandu released a statement on the matter. According to the statement, a cyber attack by a hacker was detected , which led to an unauthorized breach of customer data . The tweet was posted last night at 1:40 p.m.
In the statement, Foodmandu also confirmed that it is working with the Cyber Crime Division of Government to identify the attackers and download the uploaded data.
Mr. Mugger's tweet reads: "Data of 50,000 Foodmandu users has been compromised. I am truly disgusted by how companies neglect security . The database consists of personal details of over 150,000 users, addresses and emails. However, the demo is filtered."
However, based on the last sentence, “The demo is filtered,” it could be possible that Mr. Mugger has access to more than what is listed. The filtered subsection may actually include passwords or phone numbers.
