Nearly a month after Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 , many users are still reeling from the idea. And now it seems a new bug has appeared in the operating system , which displays an error message when a user tries to shut down their computer .
“You do not have permission to turn off this computer,” the message says. The most obvious solution, of course, is to unplug your computer. However, many users are trying to find other solutions to this new flaw that has emerged.
According to a Redditor, a user facing this issuecan create a new administrator profile > log in to it > log back in to the default administrator profile and after that, the shutdown issue will be gone.
However, Quick Heal experts have a more reliable solution for the flaw in question. According to the company, a problem related to Windows UAC prevents systems from shutting down. However, Quick Heal says it cannot confirm the exact cause of the problem.
Therefore, it has laid out the steps to enable UAC using Local Group Policy Editor in Windows 7. After completing the steps, the user needs to restart the system which can be done by typing “shutdown -r” in the RUN box (win + R).
Since Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft, the company will not be releasing any new updates for the operating system. However, recently, Microsoft was forced to create an emergency update, which was widely released, to get rid of a bug that was causing a problem with the desktop wallpaper on some users' machines.
