Password management service LastPass is experiencing a major outage today, as users report being unable to log in to their accounts and autofill passwords, with some reporting issues lasting for days.

User reports of login issues have flooded Twitter, as well as the company's Reddit forum and DownDetector. Users are reporting receiving the following error when trying to log in: "There was an error communicating with the LastPass server. Please try again later." Both personal users and businesses are affected.
According to reports, LastPass support staff is either unresponsive or refusing to report any technical issues. Despite the events being reported three days ago, the company today updated its status page reporting the incident, nor did it provide any kind of explanation or helpful assistance to its userbase.
“The fact that LastPass is denying on Twitter that there is an issue when multiple people are reporting server auth issues and haven’t received a response from support means I have to stop using the service,” one user said on Reddit. “The worst thing isn’t that I can’t log in, it’s the company’s lack of responsiveness. You have to be able to trust your password manager and now I can’t.”

According to several users on Twitter, the issues only seem to affect users with LastPass accounts dating back to 2014 or before.

On DownDetector, a company spokesperson said that the company is still investigating the incident, stating that there are no significant issues with servers – suggesting that the roots of this outage may lie in a software.
“We are aware of and investigating reports from some LastPass customers who are experiencing issues and receiving errors when attempting to log in . No service issues have been identified at this time .”
The company described the outage as "a limited impact issue" and said that " computer engineers are working to resolve the issue."
