According to a report published by Skybox Security, vulnerabilities in Cloud Containers have increased recently.
The above report, titled 2019 Vulnerability and Threat Trends, analyzes the threats shaping the security risk landscape and this year's research showed that vulnerabilities in Cloud Containers have increased by 46% compared to the same period in 2018 and by 240% compared to 2017.
The purpose of the report is to help businesses strengthen the security of their systems based on new threats emerging in cyberspace.
The use of malicious cryptominers, which were the main tool of hackers in 2018, has decreased to just 15% this year, with ransomware, botnets and backdoors increasing to fill this gap.
“Cloud usage has clearly exploded, so it’s no surprise that cloud vulnerabilities are also on the rise,” says Marina Kidron, director of threat intelligence at Skybox.
“What’s more important, though, is that as these vulnerabilities are published, attackers have the ability to develop ways to attack a container that could have much broader consequences,” he explains.
According to Amrit Williams, vice president of products, compared to other technologies, containers can be more numerous and replicated quickly.
Also notable in the report is the decrease in the overall number of vulnerabilities being published, says Ron Davidson, Skybox CTO and VP of R&D.
What is very important, then, is that there is a synchronization between the threats that appear in cyberspace and the security methods that businesses use from time to time, so that they can keep their data safe.
