Vivaldi: Blacklists unwanted sites

Google is in the midst of discussions regarding the upcoming update to Vivaldi, the well-known browser . The main idea is that the new version 2.6 will satisfy the needs of all users.

Vivaldi

This version is said to stop displaying annoying ads, since its main goal is the privacy and confidentiality of users. This process will of course also be followed by the corresponding sitesthat display this content or promote these ads.

The “ Block Ads on Abusive Sites ” option will be in Vivaldi’s settings and is a block list that will be updated automatically. This list was created by Google and contains sites with this content, as well as those that will be evaluated. Of course, sites under evaluation have the ability to correct whatever is necessary and not remain permanently on this list . Vivaldi’s list is already quite large and is growing. For the time being, it extends to 6,700 sites.

On the other hand, there are also users who do not want the process to be done automatically. In this case, there should be the ability to disable this setting. However, as a Vivaldi representative stated, the setting was decided to be done this way so that they do not have to rely on services .

As expected, there were concerns about whether Google would allow users to opt out of this setting if they didn’t want to. The main issue was Google’s strictness with these types of sites. As stated by Vivaldi senior developer Peter Nilson, when this setting is ready for installation, other options will be provided. For now, according to Vivaldi, Google has changed its stance and stated that it is simply trying to make this framework more secure for now, so that the situation can be evaluated as it goes along.
