In the wake of the recent Binance breach, the circle of trustworthy and unhacked cryptocurrency exchanges is shrinking. While crypto exchange hacks are nothing new, the recent breach shows that even the most popular and seemingly trustworthy exchanges are not safe from hackers. Nevertheless, there are still some cryptocurrency exchanges out there that you can trust.

What hacking attacks did we have in 2019:

In January, Cryptopia has experienced multiple attacks, costing users around $23 million.

LocalBitcoins lost nearly $48,000 due to a breach in January.

In February, Coinmama lost 450,000 users' personal data.

DragonEX, a Singapore exchange, lost about $7 million in late March.

In March, South Korea's victim largest exchange Bithumb fell to hacking, losing $13 million.

Rumor has it that CoinBene “unofficially” lost over $100 million at the end of March, although it denies this.

In Q1 2019 alone, cryptocurrency scams, thefts, and fraud cost users and exchanges over $1.2 billion, with $356 million stolen from cryptocurrency exchanges, according to security firm Ciphertrace. According to the firm, these thefts only represent visible losses, while the true numbers are likely much higher.
