As of today, the Raspberry Pi can add something new to its list of achievements, because some intrepid developers have managed to get Windows 10 ARM running on the Raspberry Pi, a move that will change everything for the future of the small computer. While the news is quite positive for the Pi, it should be noted that there are some drawbacks such as the fact that a lot of work is required to make the change. In particular, although it may seem quite obvious, in order to run Windows 10 the user must have a Raspberry Pi 3B or B+. You will also need a microSD card with an A1 rating and a minimum of 16GB of space. Finally, you will need to have a Windows 10 ARM64 image. You will also need some binaries and software, which are available from GitHub. The process to use these is quite easy and should not cause any problems.
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback is that Windows 10 ARM is terribly slow on the Raspberry Pi, regardless of whether you have the 3B or the B+. Of course, it is quite useful for specific tasks and will require x86 programs, but for everyday use it is a bit slow to be completely useful. Nevertheless, this is an excellent integration on the Raspberry Pi and if we see other similar changes in the future, these computers will be an extremely economical solution for Windows 10 PCs. For now, everyone can install it after first downloading the Windows 10 ARM image, WoA installer and core packages. Although the speed is slow, the result will certainly be impressive for any user.
