Cloudflare announced today that it is expanding its services so that all of its customers can register new domains at reasonable prices. No more inflated fees. Now customers will pay exactly what Cloudflare charges for registering new domains and renewing existing addresses.
Cloudflare already provides this service for its enterprise customers, and is now giving access to its new users as well.
“When we looked at the prices in the market, we were shocked by the amount of money that new domain registrars were charging,” Matthew Prince, the service’s CEO, said in a blog post. “We realized that our customers needed a domain registrar they could trust. With Cloudflare Registrar, we promise to provide our customers with the best security practices available. Our goal is to create the first domain registrar that people will love.”
When registering a new address, the registrant must pay a fee to the specific TLD (top level domain). For example, when a customer registers a .com domain, Cloudflare must pay Verisign $ 7.85, as well as 0.18 cents for the ICANN fee. This brings the total cost to $8.03.
The company has published the costs for registering addresses with the .com .net .info and .org endings, which you can see below.
While these prices are the cheapest you can find on the market, Cloudflare also offers additional services for greater security. This includes two-factor authentication, DNSSEC, automatic domain lock, and free WHOIS privacy.
