Until now, we all believed that iPhone X sales were not meeting Apple's expectations. This theory is confirmed by the company's decision to reduce production of new stock.
Counterpoint Research comes to change what we thought, declaring the iPhone X the number one in smartphone sales compared to other iPhones and Samsung flagships .
The good news doesn't stop there for Apple, as four of the top five devices in the second month of 2018 were iPhones. However, the company's market share declined due to the downward trend in the production cycle.
Specifically, the iPhone X is in first place with 5.1%, followed by the iPhone 8 with 3.1% and the iPhone 7 with 2.2%. In fourth place we find the iPhone 8 Plus with 1.9% together with Xiaomi's Redmi 5A.
Samsung, on the other hand, takes sixth place with the Galaxy S8, with a share of 1.45%. Of course, at this point it is fair to note that in February when the survey was conducted, the Galaxy S9 was not yet available. Counterpoint Research claims that Samsung's market share will increase significantly with the launch of the Galaxy S9.
In conclusion, what strikes us is that the smaller iPhones are selling better than the larger models, which – after all – have better specifications. The iPhone 8 Plus, for example, comes with a dual-camera system and a larger battery, but judging by what we mentioned above, the smaller model is still more attractive to customers.
