According to various estimates, Google with its operating system, Android, is the undisputed leader when it comes to smartphone operating systems. However, Chinese manufacturers such as ZTE and Huawei are facing several difficulties with it.
According to current data, the ban on using Android for Huawei may not be as distant a prospect as it seems. To address this situation, the company is working on its own alternative solution for Android. This particular mobile operating system is being developed to facilitate Huawei's entry into the American market.
According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the company has been working on this secret mobile operating system since US authorities began investigating Huawei and ZTE in 2012. Work is also underway to develop home-use solutions for laptops and tablets.
However, the operating system may not be released in the near future, as it is not as good as Android and represents a last resort in case Google chooses to play its tough -for Huawei- card.
The report states that the project was started by Huawei's founder, Ren Zhengfei. In fact, one of the company's executives recently said that Huawei is capable of creating its own OS.
In other news, a Wall Street Journal report states that Huawei may be found guilty of violating American rules for its sales in Iran. At present, it is not clear which sanctions Huawei could face if found guilty.
