Apple is preparing a more affordable iPhone with the help of Samsung

Apple is reportedly in talks with Samsung to supply cheaper OLED displays for its new iPhone models as the company looks for ways to reduce their high prices as much as possible.

As we mentioned in our previous article, iPhone X sales are far below Apple's expectations, and one of the main reasons is the rather high price. Let's remind you that the basic 64GB model costs $999, while the upgraded 256GB model costs $1,149.

So, Apple probably made the decision to reduce the price of upcoming iPhone models by using cheaper OLED screens from Samsung.

It is also widely believed that Apple is looking to sign a partnership with LG to create competition in the iPhone OLED business to achieve lower prices. To be honest, however, this plan is very likely to fail as LG does not yet have the production capacity that Cupertino wants.

Therefore, Samsung will remain the main supplier of OLED displays for iPhones.

Apple's program calls for 100 million OLED displays, of which 25 million are expected to be used by iPhone X models.

Apple is reportedly planning to release a successor to the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch display, as well as a Plus version of the iPhone X. A third iPhone with an LCD display is also likely to debut this year.
