Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, recently addressed his rumored participation in the 2020 presidential election.
"I am not going to run in the election. I agree with the view that it is important for the President to think long-term about the role of the United States in the world, research to solve critical diseases, to address climate change and improve education," explains Bill Gates.
When it comes to technology, Bill Gates stressed that what he misses most from his days working at Microsoft is the "urgency in everything we did to stay one step ahead.".
At the moment, Bill Gates is merely a technical advisor to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and although he had promised to take a more active role in the company, his philanthropic work to combat diseases such as malaria is his priority.
A crucial issue that Bill Gates commented negatively on and is worth noting is that of cryptocurrencies, which he criticizes due to their anonymity.
"The ability of governments to uncover money laundering, tax evasion, and terrorist financing is quite significant. Right now, cryptocurrencies are being used to buy drugs, causing deaths in a very direct way," Gates emphasized.
In general, Bill Gates during his interview referred more to his missionary activities than to issues concerning the various conflicts that arise between Microsoft and other technology giants.
