Apple is expected to launch at least two new iPhone models this year, with one of them being an upgraded version of the iPhone X.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities believes that the 5.8-inch model due out in 2018, which is likely to be the direct successor to the iPhone X, will have an upgraded RAM of 4GB. The same upgrade is expected to be found in the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus.
At this point, the iPhone X only uses 3GB of RAM, but as with iOS devices, Apple relies on software optimizations to boost the performance of its devices. On Android, the typical offering ranges between 4GB and 6GB of RAM.
Compared to the standard 5.8-inch iPhone that launches this year, the Plus-sized model will also come with a notable battery upgrade, presumably thanks to the generous space offered on the back. The battery is expected to be at least 25% larger and the capacity up to 3,400 mAh.
On the other hand, all models will feature an L-shaped battery with a two-cell design, compared to existing units that use the same shape, but only a single cell.
At this point, we should mention that the aforementioned information is rumors and so far nothing has been officially confirmed by Apple itself.
In addition to the two iPhone models based on the iPhone X, Apple is also expected to release a more affordable 6.1-inch device, which will use an LCD display instead of AMOLED and will lack more advanced features like 3D Touch.
