A new line of Raspberry Pi mini PC alternatives has been made available to consumers for pre-order, in the form of the Wand Pi 8M, which is now available from $89 with its release expected to begin in spring 2018. The new small form factor mini PC is available in three forms, the Wand Pi 8M Lite equipped with 1GB RAM and 4GB eMMC for $89, the Wand Pi 8M Pro with 2GB RAM and 8GB eMMC for $99, and finally the Wand Pi 8M Deluxe with 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC for $119. All three systems are powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor backed by Vivante GC700Lite graphics supporting 4Kp60 H.265 and VP9 video.
The integrated graphics, which comes in the form of the Vivante GC7000Lite, supports 4K UltraHD and HRD video capabilities offering users a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. Other features of the mini PC include connectivity via 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 along with ports for HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 and USB 3.0 Type-C.
Starting today, you can pre-order the WandPi-8M and be one of the first to receive them as early as spring 2018. The WandPi-8M board family reinvents and transforms IoT audio, voice, and video interactions – Wandboard WAND-PI-8M . This board is based on the NXP i.MX8M Quad processor, ARM Cortex-A53 + M4 architecture, and the popular Pi form factor (85 x 56 mm) that brings 4K UltraHD with HDR image quality.
As processing capabilities increase, the complexity and scope of developing innovative embedded systems becomes more challenging. Until now, there have been no viable processing solutions specifically addressing voice, video, and audio requirements. With this in mind, Wandboard announces the WAND-PI-8M family of boards based on the NXP i.MX8M processor, a precise solution for the specific A/V and flexibility needs of the embedded community.
