It seems there is some bad news: Facebook is down for a large number of users. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, is also having problems.

Users of the social media platform began reporting issues around 11:11 a.m. and it appears the outage has spread. The problems appear to be affecting users connecting from desktop and laptop computers.
Multiple services, such as Down Detector and Outage Report, have had large numbers of users reporting the issues. Outage Report's report map highlights the east and west coasts of the US and Europe as the areas most affected by the outage.
Services connected to Facebook, such as SocialFlow, have also reported issues with the platform's publishing API.
Some users are able to access News Feed, but are having trouble posting updates and sharing across the network. Facebook's platform status page, meanwhile, has reported healthy operations since October 7, and for some users, access has been down since shortly after 12 p.m.
A smaller number of users are also experiencing technical difficulties on Instagram. The issue doesn't appear to be as widespread as the one facing Facebook, but the Outage Report numbers for Instagram have also increased in the past hour.
Naturally, internet users have taken to Twitter to vent their collective frustration over the issues that have arisen on Facebook.
Facebook is aware of the issue, but has not provided any further information about what may be behind the outage. “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram,” a Facebook spokesperson told Mashable in an emailed statement. “We’re working to get things back up and running as quickly as possible.”.
