Why don't we click the Unsubscribe link in Spam emails?

Have you ever tried to unsubscribe from spam emails? If you haven't tried it, it would be a good idea to never do it. If you open spam emails, you will notice that they also contain a link to remove your email from the list.

Don’t think it’s cool because it’s not. Spammers didn’t add the unsubscribe link because they thought it might annoy you. They also didn’t realize that some people will never respond, which is why they try to narrow their lists for efficiency. Spam

If you click “Unsubscribe” on an unsolicited email, you’re making a big mistake. The results will be completely opposite to what you expect.

Let's see why:

While “legitimate companies” appear to respect each recipient’s unsubscribe requests, malicious users use the unsubscribe links to verify your address and send you more spam.

Alan Zeichick of Sophos says that clicking unsubscribe tells the sender that you opened their email, possibly because you were interested or because you imagined the spam was real.

By visiting the fake deletion page created by a spammer, you are giving them information about the browser you are using, the operating system, and even your IP address, risking even more and more targeted malware attacks.

If an email looks like spam, don't click on any links. Just mark it as spam and send it immediately to your junk folder.
