A new method to transfer money online launched this week, via Facebook Messenger and the TransferWise app, which is available for Android and iOS devices.
TransferWise has announced that it has integrated a bot into Facebook Messenger that allows users to make money transfers from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Europe.
The new bot can guide you through the entire money transfer process and provide helpful tips if you get stuck. Users can also receive notifications about the daily exchange rate.
The TransferWise bot was developed using the TransferWise API, which enables payments in over 600 currency routes globally.
The service is of course not free, as there is a company commission. Registering as a customer with TransferWise is free of charge.
This isn't the first time that Facebook Messenger has become a communication bridge for monetary transactions. Last year, we saw Paypal get into the game with related announcements from Secnews.
