The request for a darker version of Notepad has received hundreds of votes in the Feedback Hub app, but there's still no response from Microsoft on whether it has any plans to start work on such a project.

The first time the request to launch a dark version of Notepad was mentioned was on January 30th, when it only had 60 votes, but by February 13th we were here with more than 860 votes and this proposal is growing in popularity at a really fast pace.
As you can see in the screenshot posted here, most of them voted for this request explaining that Notepad continues to be a handy program, pointing out that even with so many text editors out there, this little app remains the best choice for simple tasks, like writing a note or editing code.
This is why users who believe that other features such as code coloring could also be in the plugins, as this could bring Notepad to the forefront with other advanced editing applications out there.
"If Notepad could have a dark theme it would be amazing. It could match the black background and white text of the current dark theme used in all UWP apps, and the default font could also be updated to match something like Segoe UI (which would also match the themes)," explains one user.
Unfortunately, while Microsoft has indeed heard the request to bring a dark version of Notepad to Windows 10 users, there is still no confirmation that this is a project it is already working on.
