According to the development notes for the upcoming Firefox 52, which is already in the Beta channel for testers and web developers, it appears that the new browser will update Firefox Sync technology to allow us to send our open tabs from one device to another. As an additional feature, the upcoming Firefox will also implement stricter security standards for Cookies.
“The Strict Secure Cookies feature will prevent insecure (http) pages from sending cookies as secure, and in some cases, will prevent an insecure site from sending a cookie with the same name as an existing “secure” cookie from the same Strict Secure Cookies base,” the Mozilla Foundation says.
In addition to the usual security improvements that the upcoming Firefox 52 browser will bring, which will also be released in an ESR version, will also improve the download experience by showing users notifications when a download fails, it will have larger buttons for restarting or canceling a download, as well as access to the five most recent downloads, rather than the three we knew until now.
Among other security-related changes, Firefox 52 promises to reduce user fingerprinting by trackers by removing the Battery Status API and downgrading the Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface (NPAPI) to support plugins like Microsoft's Silverlight, Oracle's Java, and Adobe's Acrobat, which will no longer be supported.
For web developers, Firefox 52 will have enabled support for CSS Grid Layout, a redesigned Responsive Design Mode, as well as preview display for screen sharing, which will no longer require a whitelist of domains.
