At the previous Google I/O, the company announced a new line of Android apps that make it easier to access content. Android Instant apps can display content without having to download it.
Google recently announced on the Android Developers Blog that Instant Apps makes it easier for users to discover and run apps without requiring pre-installation. The company has been working with a small number of developers to implement this original idea.
Currently, it is available to a limited number of Android users who have access to apps like BuzzFeed, Wish, Periscope, and Viki. Google plans to expand access to other users once it is confirmed that it receives public acceptance.
Android Instant Apps can potentially be used for online shopping or quick payments through the Play Store. The upside is that users no longer have to overload their phones with multiple apps that slow them down.
Instant Apps downloads the parts of an app that are needed to control content and quickly navigate the app. Notably, it will also allow users to install an app they plan to use later.
Developers who want to develop Instant Apps will need to update their existing Android apps and configure them in such a way that they can download and run the desired parts immediately. Note that developers must use the same Android APIs and Android Studio.
