Google released the stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat a few days ago. The new operating system is currently only available for a few Nexus smartphones. So there are a lot of disappointed people who discovered that some Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices were unable to receive the new version.
Why?
According to information from leakster LabTooFeR , many smartphones released in 2014 and earlier will not be able to upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat due to Qualcomm. Apparently, the processor manufacturer will not release updates for the Snapdragon 800 and 801.
Devices using these processors have been released since 2014. The Nexus 5, for example, is powered by the Snapdragon 800, and that could be the reason why it hasn't been included in the list of Nexus smartphones that can update to Google's latest OS.
If the rumors are true, then many other smartphones will not be able to get the update, not just the Nexus 5. Some of these smartphones are the HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z3, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and LG G3. However, considering that the Snapdragon 800 and 801 processors were very popular, the list could include even more smartphones.
Here we should mention that many of these devices have exceeded their support period and thus will not be prioritized for updating to a new operating system version.
However, many of these smartphones are capable of running the new Android 7.0 Nougat, including the Nexus 5 and 7.
