20th European Mobility Management Conference: Think Green, Travel Smart" " , but also " Think Smart , Travel Green" is the dual message of the 20th European Mobility Management Conference ( ECOMM 2016 ) which will be held in Athens on June 1, 2 and 3, 2016, at Technopolis (Gazi), under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens.
The conference is organized by the Transportation Engineering Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Transportation Systems Laboratory of the University of Piraeus together with the European Platform on Mobility Management (EPOMM ) .
The central theme is: People and Cities” “ Smart Solutions for and concerns all those solutions, traditional and innovative, that make the daily lives of citizens easier and cities more operationally efficient.
The conference is expected to attract around 400 participants from 20 countries and will feature more than 120 papers, covering a wide range of topics related to Mobility Management. Also, distinguished world-renowned speakers, executives from reputable organizations, institutional and political figures will participate, such as: the Deputy Mayor of Vienna Ms. Maria Vasilakou, the Director of Innovation of the Metropolitan Authority of San Francisco Mr. Timothy Papandreou, the executive of the International Transport Forum Mr. Philippe Christ and many others. The conference will be welcomed by the Mayor of Athens Mr. G. Kaminis and the Secretary General of Transport Ms. Perka.
The conference is taking place this year for the first time in Greece and has an anniversary character due to its 20th anniversary.
In this context , a video competition is also being held , with the theme “A vision for shaping the future of Urban Mobility in Europe”. The competition ( ecomm/contest/video ) is open to participants over 18 years of age and the deadline for submission is May 8, 2016.
This year's event is expected to be a unique opportunity to record and present the progress made over the last 20 years in Mobility Management, as well as the role that the European platform EPOMM and the ECOMM conference have had in it.
At the same time, the participants will be able to observe innovative applications in the field of “smart” transportation, as well as solutions for future challenges around Mobility Management, and also for “smart” cities in general.
The conference is addressed to a broad audience from professional and scientific communities of the Public and Private sectors, unions, individuals, businesses and suppliers involved in human mobility, up to university institutions and local government bodies. Mobility Management is classified as one of the most fundamental topics in the transport sector by the Transport Policy Planning bodies, the Public Transport Authorities, supporters of non-motorized transport means, designers and developers of high technologies and innovative solutions as well as marketing companies.
In the conference venue an exhibition will be hosted showcasing innovative applications and presenting agencies and organizations.
The conference organizers are represented on the Organising Committee by the General Secretariat for Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Attiko Metro, SAST, the Transport Institute of EKETA and the Association of Greek Transport Scholars.
