Recently, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of the social network Facebook, announced that the company is working on a new feature that will allow you to Dislike your friends' posts.
But this feature caught the attention of cybercriminals and they decided to exploit it by luring unsuspecting users online.
So, right now, there are posts circulating on Facebook promising the Dislike button before it is officially released. The scammers even state that it will be made available to a few users initially, for testing purposes. They also state that the new feature is distributed “by invitation only” by the system.
The scam also contains links that, when clicked, take the user to a malicious website. There, there is a countdown timer that urges the user to complete the process immediately before the time runs out.
The website then asks the victim user to share the scam on Facebook, as well as in 5 Messenger chat groups.
Once spread, the scam redirects the user to a new page, where they are asked to fill out some questionnaires, which collect the user's personal information, names and passwords.
We should add that some variations of the same scam have been reported that can install malware on the victim's computer.
So it would be a good idea to think twice before clicking on posts that seem suspicious to you, or simply too good to be true.
Let's not forget that fraudsters win this battle because they have virtually no opponent. This is why constant information is essential.
