Samsung and MIT: The biggest problem with portable electronic devices is battery life. Strangely enough, no matter how large the capacity, batteries run out at the most inopportune moment.
Of course, you will have noticed that as time goes by, the battery discharge time from 100% to 0 is not the same, as it constantly decreases.
However, it seems that Samsung and MIT have started a collaboration to solve this problem. MIT, together with Samsung, have reportedly discovered a way to create batteries that could potentially last forever.
This is what is known as solid-state batteries. The technology is based on replacing the liquids currently used with a solid material. The liquid-electrolyte battery seems to degrade after a number of charges, but this new technological breakthrough could allow hundreds of thousands of charge-discharge cycles. Apparently the new technology will allow batteries to last forever, as incredible as it may sound.
The new batteries are also expected to be more resistant to temperature and various other external factors, which means we won't have to worry about them exploding in our faces at some point.
Unfortunately, at the moment we do not know when we will have these specific batteries available in our devices, let's hope it will be in the near future.
