Following the same strategy, Microsoft, which wants at least one front page every day, announced that Skype users from the United Kingdom and the United States can use the application without installation from the Web (Skype for Web).
It is an undeniably useful feature for those who wish to chat with someone from their contacts from shared computers without administrator rights.
Currently, Skype for Web is still in beta development stage, and is available only to users of the two aforementioned countries.
“Skype for Web is a significant step for Skype, as we move towards implementing the technology that will make real-time communication (RTC) on the internet a reality. We are doing this because hundreds of millions of visitors to the Skype.com website each month informed us that they want the Skype experience on our website.” says Microsoft.
The new Skype service will use a new UI that was revised for Outlook.com, and the first beta comes with a modern workspace that contains almost all the features of the application that we all know.
Once you log in with your account you will be able to access all your contacts and conversations, it doesn't matter if you previously used Skype from a smartphone, tablet or PC.
There are two different lists for contacts and recent conversations, as well as a timeline view to quickly start a new chat and easily view previous messages.
As we mentioned above, the service is not yet available in Greece. So if you try to connect to web.skype.com you will see the following message.
