The Cybercrime Directorate's application CYBERKID was awarded the Gold Award at the Mobility Forum & Apps Awards 2015 in the category "Best application regarding social and economic development"
Cyberkid has stood out in the field of mobile telephony "smart applications", contributing to informing and raising awareness among children up to 12 years of age, as well as their parents, regarding internet safety.
The CYBERKID mobile application of the Hellenic Police's Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate was awarded the Gold Award at the Mobility Forum & Apps Awards 2015 in the category "Best Social and Economic Development App".
The award was received by the Director of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, Major General Emmanuel Sfakianakis, during the award ceremony, which took place on Thursday, April 2, 2015, in the afternoon, at the Divani Caravel Hotel.
The Mobility Forum & Apps Awards 2015 is the largest awards ceremony for applications in Greece. The main message of the awards is to motivate and reward talented creators and innovative companies and organizations in the modern technological era, while the prerequisite is not that the applications are already known to the consumer public, but that they are innovative and have the elements that give them the prospect of distinction and durability in the Greek market.
The Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police Headquarters, through the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, participated in the organization with the CYBERKID application, which distinguished itself among applications from major banks in Greece, leading insurance companies, telecommunications and network organizations, and recognized private companies that excel in the fields of commerce, tourism, communications security, as well as online entertainment and education in Greece.
The CYBERKID application was honored with the Gold Award in the category "Best Application in Social and Economic Development", which honors applications that contribute to social and economic development, offering solutions in the areas of e-health, emergencies and humanitarian aid, as well as in the areas of access to goods and services.
The CYBERKID application for smart phones, with iOS – Android operating system, was created by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate with the aim of informing and raising awareness among children up to 12 years of age, as well as their parents, regarding internet safety. The aim of the application is to highlight the positive aspects of the internet, but also to inform about ways to address the challenges of the digital world, as well as adapting to new data.
Parents can visit CYBERKID with their children to have fun and learn how to navigate safely. In addition, the application allows users to communicate directly and in real time in case of danger or threat with Officers of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate through the use of an innovative (touchscreen call) process "Cyber Alert", but also by sending an electronic message. The Officers manage the danger or threat, which comes via the internet with modern procedures and through a Modern Cyber Threat Management Center (Cyber Alert), which is based in the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate.
