Google goes to the Netherlands with 600 million euros

Google has announced plans to build a new data center in Europe, this time in Eemshaven, a port in the Netherlands.

The company says it has budgeted the project at €600 million. The new data center will be Google's in Finland, Belgium and Ireland. Google currently has more than 10 data centers across the Americas, Europe and Asia. It opened its first two Asian data centers last year, in Taiwan and Singapore.

Google says the new facility will create over 1,000 jobs. The data center will begin “initial operations” in the first half of 2016, and will be fully operational by the end of 2017 .
