Microsoft is trying to understand why China hates it

China - Microsoft

Microsoft it is looking for ways to come into agreement with the country's requirements, regarding the products it offers domestically.

Apple CEO Tim Cook also visited China last month to meet with government officials to discuss a range of issues affecting the local market. Earlier this year, China asked Apple for access to source code , a request that was quickly denied by the company and led to growing tension between the two sides.

Returning to Microsoft, the antitrust investigation launched by China dates back to 2014, when the company stopped supporting Windows XP, and is still ongoing.

The Beijing government had then asked Microsoft to provide the country with extended support for the operating system after April 8, 2014, but the company refused to do so, responding that Chinese users would have to upgrade to a newer version of Windows.

After that, China began boycotting Windows 8 by banning the use of the operating system on government computers, while a few months later, the country launched an antitrust investigation into various Microsoft products, such as Windows and Office.

Although Microsoft has tried several times to resolve these issues and cooperate with China, they have not reached a compromise. Last year, Chinese prosecutors raided several Microsoft offices and seized documents and computers that allegedly contained evidence related to the investigation.

This is the second time Nadella has traveled to China to negotiate with local officials, hoping to reach a compromise this time.
