Hacking attack on Sheep Marketplace?

deeb-webSheep Marketplace, an underground online marketplace for trafficking drugs and other illegal goods, has ceased operations after a large number of bitcoins were allegedly stolen from the website.

The dark web site is rumored to have become quite popular after the FBI dismantled “Silk Road” last October.

The administrator of Sheep Marketplace claimed that the vendor with the alias “EBOOK101” managed to steal 5,400 bitcoins (worth $5 million) by exploiting a vulnerability on the website.

However, many claim that Sheep Marketplace is actually a scam to steal bitcoins and that the attack may have been staged by the website's administrators themselves.

There is also a website called “Sheepmarketscam”, which provides evidence suggesting that Sheep Marketplace is a well-established scam.

The underground market's "customers" do not appear to have received their money back, despite assurances from administrators that users will be compensated with their remaining bitcoins.
