Microsoft lowers the price of the new Band
The company recently launched the second-generation Band smart wristband, so it is natural to expect that it will lower the price of the first model in order to clear inventory and make more room for its successor.
But in the UK, Microsoft surprised everyone and discounted the new model, reducing the price of the device on Amazon's store by 5 percent.
The new bracelet now costs £189.99 ($285 / €265) from £199.99 ($300 / €278) for a limited time, so although the discount may not seem large at first glance, this is the lowest price for Microsoft's next‑generation Band in the United Kingdom.
The offer is available in all three sizes and is only valid in the UK, but Microsoft could launch similar price cuts in some other markets very soon. With Christmas just around the corner, Microsoft is discounting a lot of devices in as many markets as possible, so hopefully, bigger cuts for the band could be announced sometime in the coming weeks.
The second-generation Band
As we have told you in the review of the Microsoft Band 2, the main upgrade in the new version of the device is the curved screen, which is said to make it a little more comfortable to wear both on the inside and the outside of the wrist.
And yet, over the past few weeks, we have noticed that the Band 2 is actually much more comfortable when worn on the inside of the wrist, with the pressure exerted by the sensors and the battery on your hand being less noticeable.
Just like its predecessor, the new bracelet is packed with sensors, but it also adds a barometer, which acts more like an altimeter that measures elevation more accurately. Otherwise, the device can be used for a wide variety of activities, including running, workouts, and even golf.
