Now that the successful Kickstarter campaign has ended, having helped Jide raise over $1.6 million, thanks to more than 20,000 backers, production has already begun on the Android mini computer.
Chinese manufacturer Jide now hopes to begin shipping the Android mini PC that took Kickstarter by storm, with backers in October 2015 pre-installed with the Remix operating system.
Remix OS is based on Android 4.4, but system builder Jide is now testing Remix OS 1.5, which is based on Android 5.0 and includes a slew of new features, such as the ability to run more apps, as well as improvements to email, the browser, the file manager, and other apps.
To recap, the Remix Mini PC is equipped with a 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex Allwinner-A53 quad-core processor, supported by up to 2GB of RAM, along with up to 16GB of storage. Connectivity is provided by 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and HDMI output, and the system includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 x Ethernet jack, and a headphone jack.
Even though the Kickstarter campaign has now ended, Jide is still accepting pre-orders for the Remix Mini, directly from the official website.
