Xiaomi seems to be seeking closer ties with Windows 10 Mobile .
Following the information that Microsoft and Xiaomi are collaborating in China to enable the possibility of installing Windows 10 Mobile on the company's devices running Android, we take a sneak peek at Xiaomi, which seem extremely interesting since they are still related to Windows 10 Mobile.
You may remember that Chinese device makers released their first tablet in 2014. The device was called the "Mi Pad" and was more or less a copy of the iPad, while it was based on the Tegra K1 platform.
Perhaps Xiaomi wants to take a break from producing Android devices.
A Q3 tablet announcement means we can expect the new tablet anytime between now and September. But recently, a Microsoft executive in South Africa heavily hinted that Windows 10 Mobile will launch "on schedule" in November.
However, the analyst did not specify whether the tablet will run Windows Mobile 10 (most likely because the Mi Pad has a 7.9-inch display). Microsoft recommends tablets with 8-inch screens and above to fully support Windows 10, so if the Mi Tablet has a 10.1-inch display, we won't see it running Microsoft's new software. Considering the release schedule detailed in the report, it seems like that's what will happen.
There is currently no other information about the tablet's specifications. Xiaomi has set the launch of the new version of MIUI (custom Android ROM) on August 16, so the company may reveal the Windows 10 tablet as well.
The company has faithfully served Android since its inception, but to try new things with the primary goal of the «ecosystem» of Windows.
