Google has reduced the amount of spam in its inbox by a large percentage. But sometimes it mistakenly sends certain messages to spam, such as monthly announcements and updates, ticket receipts, etc.
This is a major problem for those who send legitimate messages to many recipients. To address this, Google has created tools to help email users manage their messages better.
According to Sri Harsha Somanchi, Google, Postmaster Tools was created for administrators and provides information about message delivery errors, spam reports, etc. Google trying to make the spam filter more customizable for ordinary users, although users can already mark a message as spam. However, what one person considers spam, another person may consider a pleasant message. Somanchi says that "your neighbor may like weekly newsletters, but you may hate them. So, thanks to advances in machine learning, spam filters can now recognize personal preferences."
The company's spam filter now uses what is called «artificial neural network» which includes a widely distributed platform based on algorithms and can distinguish malicious spam that closely resembles desired messages.
Also, Somanchi wrote that «the platform can discern messages that deceive because they appear to be sent from a legitimate sender, but in reality they are not.»
