Blackberry buys AndroidSecured.com and AndroidSecured.net domains
Blackberry reportedly bought two new domain names this week that indicate the company is finally preparing something with Android.
According to Reuters, Blackberry has purchased the domains AndroidSecured.com and AndroidSecured.net. The new AndroidSecured.com redirects from today to Blackberry's website, which details the company's upcoming Android moves.Blackberry
For its part, Blackberry seems to downplay the fact:
"BlackBerry frequently purchases domain names to support the breadth of its cross-platform portfolio," the company told Reuters.
“Android is an importantpart of our cross-platform enterprise software strategy.”
The rumors circulating recently come from a combination of factors and want Blackberry to abandon its own operating system and embrace Google's widespread Android platform.
The company's CEO John Chen didn't say much on the matter, only saying that he would consider using Android if his company was able to secure it.
So while rumors abound, everything indicates that Android seems to make some sense for Blackberry, as the company could potentially use it to boost its revenue, instead of relying solely on software and services.
