Google & Huawei collaborate on new Nexus and app store for China
According to a new report, Google and Huawei will begin a closer collaboration by the end of the year. While we've heard about Nexus from Huawei before, this is the first time we've seen mention of a more complex project.
According to the new report, Google will help Huawei gain more recognition in Western markets, such as the US, a market where Chinese Huawei is not doing so well. This will be gained by the company from the launch of a Nexus this year. On the other hand, Huawei will help Google create an Android App Store for the Chinese market.
Google Play and Google Play Services are not available in China, where even Google search is almost non-existent due to government restrictions. With the absence of the Play Store in China, users are essentially getting their apps from third-party app stores, which are not as secure, such as Qihoo 360 and Baidu.
These services lack the security of the Play Store, resulting in malware-laden apps from time to time. In addition, Google is also looking to profit from app sales in the Chinese market, which is the largest in the world.
